20th February 2019
Toastmasters District 116 is pleased to invite you to the District Toastmasters Annual Conference (DTAC 2019) being held in Doha from 3rd – 4th May 2019.
Focusing on the theme of ‘Connect to Communicate’ the program will cover the key aspects of Communication and Leadership that impact people and organizations now and in the future. It will explore solutions and strategies to ensure the Toastmasters program delivers as per the mission: “We empower individuals to become more effective communicators and leaders.”
The theme “Connect to Communicate” encapsulates three components affecting connection; the speaker’s conviction, passion, and credibility that bring about thoughts, emotion, and action in others. “Any message you try to convey must contain a piece of you.” Communication can go beyond words by connecting on four levels: visually, intellectually, emotionally and verbally. Connecting is to identify with people and relate in a way that increases our influence with them.
Connecting is a mindset that can be learned. Connecting is all about others, with whom we are communicating. It is changing the focus from inward to outward, off of oneself and onto others. People respond based not merely on the words they hear but on the connection they experience.
Leaders who have learned the art of connection can communicate well and attract followers. People judge a leader initially based on communication skills but they will go along only if they trust the leader’s convictions and character. How you portray yourself, what you communicate, and how you live need to be consistent. The essence is “Connect to Communicate.”
“Keep The Main Thing, The Main Thing.”- Daniel Rex, CEO of TI. The main thing in District Conference is Speech contests, and we have top-notch contestants who will vie for titles. The winning speech will represent in the Region 11 quarterfinals.
We have two major celebrities attending the event. DTM Morag Mathieson Region 11 International Director from Germany and TM Darren Tay, World Champion of Public Speaking 2016 from Singapore. They will provide immense value to the participants.
Too often we wait for the perfect moment to do things because we don’t feel ready or comfortable. “We must do that which we think we cannot,” said Eleanor Roosevelt. I can assure you that attending DTAC 2019 Qatar will definitely be a milestone in your self-improvement journey. It is arriving at your doorsteps!
We look forward to seeing you participate at DTAC 2019- QATAR.
